Projects and verification

A project groups the quests of one team under a name, a website and an X account. It is tied to the wallet that created it: only that wallet can add quests to it, edit it or verify it. One project can hold as many quests as you like, so you create it once and reuse it.

Projects are optional. A quest without a project shows its creator's name or address instead.

Create a project

You create a project from the quest form (Create a quest), in the Project (optional) menu: choose + New project… and fill in:

Click Create project. The new project is selected for your quest. The form reminds you: "Your wallet is shown as the project's creator; nothing marks a project as official."

• A wallet can create up to 20 projects. Projects cannot be deleted.
• A description can be added later in the project editor.

The project page

Every project has a page at app.getwork2own.com/#/p/<id> that lists its quests (up to 200), including ended and closed ones. It shows the name, logo or initials, the website and X account, the description, and "created by" with the owner's wallet.

The owner also sees Add a quest (opens the quest form with this project selected) and Edit project.

Edit a project

Edit project (owner only) lets you change the name, website, X account and About the project (up to 1,000 characters).

If you change the website to another domain, or remove it, the verification is removed until you verify the new domain. Changing only the path of the same domain keeps it.

Verify your domain

Verification proves that the project's owner controls the website's domain. You add a DNS record, and work2own checks it.

1. Make sure the project has a website. Its domain is the host name in lowercase without a leading www.: https://www.Example.com/app becomes example.com, while https://app.example.com stays app.example.com.

2. As the owner, open the project page. The Verify this project panel shows the exact record.

3. In the DNS settings of your domain (at your DNS provider, for example Cloudflare or your registrar), add:

4. Wait a few minutes for DNS to update, then click Check DNS and verify.

Possible answers:

Message	Meaning

… is already verified by another project	Each domain can be verified by one project only
DNS did not answer, try again in a minute	The DNS lookup failed; try again

What verification gives you

• A blue check on the project's logo, everywhere the project appears.
• The domain's logo instead of initials (logos are provided by Logo.dev).
• "Verified · your domain" on the project page.
• A blue check on the owner's profile photo, with a tooltip such as "Owner of Example, verified example.com". If you own several verified projects, the oldest one is named.
• No other project can claim the same domain.

What verification does not mean

• It proves control of a domain at the moment of the check. work2own does not check the record again later, so removing the TXT record afterwards does not remove the check. Changing the project's website to another domain does.
• It is not a review of the project, its contracts or its quests by work2own.

Rate limits

To prevent abuse, the API accepts up to 10 project creations, 20 project edits and 10 verification checks per minute from one IP address.
