Get started
You need three things:
- A browser wallet that supports Robinhood Chain. The app lists the wallets your browser announces (EIP-6963).
- A little ETH on Robinhood Chain to pay gas. Every action you sign is a normal transaction paid by your own wallet. work2own does not pay gas for users.
- USDG, only if you want to post work. Workers do not need USDG.

Some quests ask you to do steps on the Robinhood Chain testnet (chain ID 46630, RPC https://rpc.testnet.chain.robinhood.com, explorer explorer.testnet.chain.robinhood.com). Your work2own actions themselves always happen on mainnet.
Connect your wallet
- Open app.getwork2own.com and click Connect wallet.
- Pick your wallet from the list. If the list says "No browser wallet found. Install one that supports Robinhood Chain.", install a wallet first.
- If your wallet is on another network, a Switch to Robinhood Chain button appears. The app also asks your wallet to switch before any transaction.
When you are connected, the header shows your short address (a link to your Dashboard) and a Disconnect button. Disconnecting also signs you out.
Sign in
Some actions need the app to know that you control the wallet: saving your profile, uploading a proof of work, applying for a gig, choosing your payout country, creating a project, and reading private details such as your own proofs or a gig brief.
For these, the app asks you to sign a message (Sign-In with Ethereum, EIP-4361). The message says:
Sign in to work2own. This signature costs nothing and does not move funds.
- Signing is free and sends no transaction.
- The sign-in lasts 7 days for that wallet. Each wallet has its own sign-in, so switching accounts does not sign the other one out.
- The app only asks when an action needs it.
- Smart-contract wallets that support standard signature checks (ERC-1271 or ERC-6492) can sign in too.
Browsing quests, gigs, projects and public profiles needs neither a wallet nor a sign-in.
Before every transaction
The app simulates each contract call before your wallet opens. If the call would fail, you see the reason in plain words instead of a failed transaction, for example "All slots are taken right now." or "Your 24-hour reservation has ended."
When you deposit USDG, the app asks your wallet to approve exactly the amount needed for that deposit, never an unlimited amount. If your existing approval already covers it, no approval is requested.
If work2own is paused
In an emergency the admin can pause the escrow. The app then shows: "work2own is paused for maintenance. Submissions still work; payments resume shortly."
While paused, you can still reserve quest slots, submit quests and gigs, and employers can still reject within their review window, so a pause never eats into a worker's deadline or an employer's review window. New deposits, employer approvals, releases, payouts, refunds and token switches wait until the pause ends. The contract sets no maximum length for a pause; the USDG stays in the escrow until the admin unpauses. See Security and roles.
