Applying for gigs

A gig is a job for one person. The employer posts it, workers apply with their profile, and the employer hires one of them by funding the budget into the escrow. You then deliver, and you are paid in the stock token or USDG you choose at delivery.

Find a gig

The Gigs page lists open gig posts, newest first (up to 200), refreshed every 20 seconds.

  • Search by title or employer.
  • Sort: Newest, Highest budget, Shortest delivery, Fewest applicants.
  • Each row shows the budget, the delivery time ("N days" after hiring) and the number of applicants.

A gig post is free to publish and holds no money. The budget is only locked in the escrow when the employer hires someone.

Apply

You need a public profile first. Employers choose workers by their profile and track record.

  1. Open the gig post.
  2. Add an optional Note to the employer (up to 1,500 characters), for example why you fit, similar work you did, and when you can start.
  3. Click Apply with my profile (needs a sign-in).

After applying you see "You applied on … The employer sees your profile and note." You can Withdraw application while the post is open, and apply again later.

  • You cannot apply to your own gig post.
  • A post accepts up to 200 applications.
  • When the employer hires someone else or closes the post, your application is marked declined.

Only you and the employer can see your application and note.

Get hired

When the employer hires you, they fund the gig on-chain: the budget goes into the escrow and the delivery deadline is set to the delivery time counted from the moment of hiring. The gig post shows "Hired" and a link Open the gig. Your Dashboard shows "Deliver this gig before the deadline".

On the gig page, the brief (title, description and links) is shown only to you, the employer and the work2own arbiter, after sign-in. The original gig post stays public at its link and shows who was hired.

Deliver

On the gig page, before the deadline:

  1. Choose how you want to be paid: USDG or a stock token (see Getting paid). For gigs, the payout token is chosen at delivery, not at hiring.
  2. Write your Notes (up to 4,000 characters) and add Links to your work (up to 5, https:// only).
  3. Click Submit delivery and confirm the transaction.

Your delivery is stored with work2own and its fingerprint (a hash) goes on-chain. Only you, the employer and the arbiter can read it.

The deadline is strict

After the deadline you can no longer deliver, and the employer can cancel the gig and take the full budget back.

Review

After delivery the employer has 7 days to answer:

Employer actionWhat happens
Approve and payThe gig is completed and your payout is created
Does nothing for 7 daysAnyone can release the payment. The operator does it automatically, and you see Release the payment (review window passed) on the gig page
Reject (within 7 days, with a written reason)The gig goes to a dispute

Disputes

When the employer rejects your delivery, the gig becomes Disputed. The gig page shows the employer's reason and "The work2own arbiter will decide how to split the budget."

The arbiter reads the brief, your delivery and the employer's reason, then chooses a split (the arbiter's page works in whole percent from 0 to 100):

  • Your share becomes a payout in the token you chose at delivery.
  • The rest goes back to the employer.

The gig page then shows "Arbiter decision: X to the worker, Y back to the employer." There is no time limit for the arbiter in the contract, and no other way to settle a dispute. Disputed gigs count in your public track record as "went to dispute".

Get paid

Approval, release or the arbiter's decision creates a payout for you. USDG is sent right away. A stock token payout is swapped at a protected price by the operator, or by you from the Dashboard. See Getting paid.
